Story
17th April 2011 – I did it !
It was a lot tougher than I expected, but I did manage to swim, cycle & run in all the right places – no stopping, crashing or walking, which I’m really pleased about. It took me 1 hour & 45 minutes to complete the course, including transitions (which included doing lippy of course). And unbelievably had no major aches or pains to speak of the next day, just a wee sleepy head from the celebrating maybe.
Thank you to everybody who sponsored me & came along on the day to support me, it was very much appreciated. It was a gorgeous day and I was glad I got an early start because it was heating up by 10.30am.
I do plan to do another Triathlon – Roade in September - as I think I paced myself easily on this one and now want to improve on my time.
This page will still be available for viewing and sponsorship until 17th July 11
Once again, huge thanks

10th April 2011 - One Week to Go!
Thank you so much for your sponsorship, it’s really helped motivate me to get up and in the gym so early for all these mornings.
And now only one week to go! You’ll see I do now have a more appropriate photo, in my superhero Tri Suit. I’ve reduced my original estimated swim time by a minute, Marian has been my running round the park motivator and I left Daryl miles behind on the bike last weekend, so I’m feeling just about ready. Although will be incredibly nervous this time next week!
I’ll find out on Wednesday (13th April) what time I’ll be starting the Triathlon. I will update this page to let you know, if you want to come down and have a laugh, shout support and maybe join us to celebrate afterwards.
Thanks again
Trish xx
On Sunday the 17th April 2011, after a few glasses of wine the evening before, I will swim 0.4km, cycle for 20km and finally, with wobbly legs, run 5km!!! Click on http://www.justracinguk.com/event/duston-triathlon-pool-sprint for more info.
I’m doing this for a couple of reasons:
Firstly, a personal challenge. Some of you may know that this year, before my impending 40th Birthday, I am trying to prove I am not my age by completing my first triathlon.
Secondly and more importantly;
Cancer is an unscrupulous disease that has somehow affected the lives of every person reading this. Last year my brother-in-law Geoff Crabtree died after a short and brave battle. He was a big character who always went the extra mile and so I’d like to go a few too, to say thank you to a couple of organisations that really helped him and his family so much.
There are 2 charities and you can contribute to both of them or either of them.
To Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Northampton – All the team were so very kind, helpful and supportive to Geoff, his family and friends. Actually Geoff had so many visitors that we really need to contribute to helping them restock the visitors book J. A massive thank you to all of the staff at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, they do fantastic work! Continue on this page to sponsor me for Cynthia Spencer.
To MacMillan Cancer Support – These people are unsung heroes, there during the very difficult times for the individuals and their families. Offering not just nursing care, but practical support, advice and actually doing. Such as, sorting out the small things like disabled parking permits, which help in such a big way.
