Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.   Most of you will know us, but hopefully some of you won't and you have still taken time out to read this......

Having spent time working in an amazing Mexican Restaurant (Coriander) we have become very interested in the Latin American culture.   We have decided to experience the life first-hand by setting out on a  huge adventure - travelling across many countries in Southern and Central America. In this time we decided we could not go that far across the world without trying in some small way to help.......................
OUR CHALLENGE

We will be trekking the Inca Trail in spring 2010 in support of Project ,a small, lively, totally voluntary UK-based charity offering food, clothes, health, shelter, education and fun to those in need in a country where nearly half the population exists on less than a dollar a day.

The Inca Trail is a physically challenging four day hike at high altitude (up to 13,776 feet).  The trail is often steep and the temperatures at night fall below zero.  The final destination is the ancient city of Machu Picchu.

Not only that, but soon after we will be staying in the refuge for one month to volunteer and get to see first-hand how well the money is spent! In this time we will be working in the soup kitchens, helping building a new shelter, and most importantly having fun with these amazing people!

While we are at the refuge we will be paying £5 a night each from our own pocket for food and accommodation.

Please sponsor us and support the Project Peru refuge for children in the shanty towns of .

PROJECT PERU
We have chosen Project Peru as your money will not be going to any middle man or on expenses.  98% of the money raised goes directly to the community we are helping.  During our month there, we will witness what the money raised is being spent on.    The project has created jobs for the community and raised awareness on a whole range of issues.  We have met the organisers and their infectious enthusiasm has rubbed off.

Many thanks to coriander, who have agreed to sell Cusquna, a Peruvian beer in the restaurant. Form each bottle sold 50p is going directly to Project Peru..
