It's three years since I was diagnosed with Parkinson's and so far I feel that I've got away with it quite lightly, a right hand tremor that is gradually getting worse and so far there is no cure. Parkinson's UK is committed to supporting for sufferers and their carers and directing funding to the many research programmes dedicated to finding a cure or improving the well being of people with Parkinson's.
The ride is for me but if you care to give a donation Parkinson's UK will put it to good use. Monies to be split between our local Elgin and District Parkinson's Support Group and our central body Parkinson's UK.
My bike ride is planned as a self indulgent and theraputic journey. Setting off in early April, the route is generally south from Burghead via Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh, to Newcastle, Ferry to Ijmuiden; turn left and head north-ish through The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Ferry to Sweden, through Norway to Stavanger, flight to Aberdeen and bike back to Burghead by early July (Significant birthday, party time!!).
This story will also by updated on my blog pedalpower-itsmylife, as long as I can get everything to work from my tablet! Which reminds me, I've got to pick up three monts supply of medication and more importantly find somewhere to pack it!!
