Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As you may or may not know my daugher Polly was born with a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis. In a nutshell, this means she has benign tumours in her brain, kidney and heart (currently). This is a lifelong condition for her and there is no cure so essentially this means all you can do is manage the various issues these tumours cause as best you can. I'm not religious however seeing as there isn't really anything scientific to pin some hope on as a magic wand for Pol, I tend to go with the plan to fund raise as much as possible in the hope the universe will send her some goodwill back in return. Which is probably nonsense but it makes me feel better. Anyone who spends two minutes with her will see she is a very very special and happy girl who doesn't deserve any of the stuff she has been through in the two and a half years she's been around. In that spirit two of my very best friends are joining me this time round to do their bit to help her. John is still young and despite his love of corner shop beers and the hindrance of having a larger than average backside he really shouldn't be struggling with this sort of distance with a bit of training. Jason however is 40 next year, has dodgier knees even than me, and despite beeing pretty fit when we were at school the furthest he's run since without passing out is 2 miles. So unless me and John take it in turns to give him a piggy back the rest of the run (which isn't going to happen) he's going to have to dig VERY deep on the day. It's a massive effort from them both though so hopefully you'll see it's fully deserving of any money you donate. Thanks for listening!
