Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year the Tall Dog has been organising events to help raise money for Tom Jenkinson, aged 5, lives with his family in Chichester. They have one aim for 2014 – to raise enough funds for Tom to have a life changing operation and we are wanting to help.
I am abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower on the 19th April to try and help raise as much money as possible to go towards his operation, and with your support we can help Tom reach his target.
Why?? To make a difference to someone's life is why I am doing this crazy event. Not only to raise money towards his treatment but to make awareness that for many young children who suffer from Cerebral Palsy, the only way to gain independence is often by funding their own operations abroad and these don't come cheap.
What we raise through this event and many others will bring a smile to a little boys face and while I am abseiling down the tower, it will be this that gets me down.
Tom has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and is unable to stand unaided or to walk. There is an operation that can give him a chance to walk, with sticks, and therefore be able to grow into an independent boy. It will also relieve him of the constant pain that the muscle spasms cause throughout his daily life.
Unfortunately an operation for Tom is not available in the UK – the most successful surgeons are at the St Louis Children’s Hospital in America. To give Tom this chance of a more comfortable life will cost £40,000.
What ever you can afford to donate, however small, will make a difference so thank you for your support
