The Hull Memory Clinic is an internationally renowned, specialist clinical and academic centre. It is the only memory service in our Trust and the Hull and the East Riding area. The clinic is unique in that it provides ongoing psychosocial interventions for people with dementia and their families, alongside specialist memory assessments.

In May 2009 we were lucky enough to be awarded a grant as part of the King's Fund Enhancing The Healing Environment Scheme.  The Humber NHS Foundation Trust have also supported the project and have made a  financial commitment.  However, in order to address some of the issues identified in our extensive consultation exercise we do have a shortfall in funds.

These items are desirable, whilst not essential, they address issues which will assist our clients and carers in their challenging journey:-

·         Installation of the art gallery and specialist lighting.

·         Ongoing revenue cost to fund the gallery maintenance.

·         The purchase of the audio visual equipment.

·         Indoor Planting.

·         Installation of a drinks machine

·         Provision and ongoing support of an internet connection for use by visitors to the clinic.

·         Provision of a PC for internet for clients and carers to access support networks such as Alzheimer’s Society forums etc.  

 

In May 2010 some 16 or more walkers attempted and triumphed over The Yorkshire Three Peaks to help raise some of the much needed funds.  Some of them are mad enough to go back and do it all again!!! On August 21st 2010 they will be joined by more volunteers who are itching to beat the peaks and support our cause.  If you would like to support walkers past and future please donate here!!
