Story
24 hours, 25 miles to hike, 10,000 feet to climb, three mountains to conquer with 900 miles to travel to reach them all… yes, why not?!
As many of you know, I shall be spending my first ever teacher summer holidays teaching! I’m going to Tanzania for 5 weeks to teach Maths in a school in the country’s largest city, Dar es Salaam.
As part of this amazing opportunity, I need to raise as much money as possible to put towards badly needed resources which we can donate to the schools. For example, one year this was used to buy an overhead projector that Azania School in Dar es Salaam desperately needed. In the past it has also been used for white boards, books and other essential equipment. Any donations which are not used for resources will fund more student teachers, African teachers’ visits and IGGY scholarships next year, but absolutely all of it will be used to benefit the students and teachers in Africa.
To raise this money, I am joining a group of other Warwick in Africa volunteers on the National Three Peaks challenge on July 9th – 10th. As the stats above state, this is not a walk in the park, but a 24 hour endurance test which will definitely be the toughest challenge I’ve ever attempted!
