Dear Friend,

I only started running in January of this year and completed my first 5k in March. On the same day I completed my first 10k I impetuously decided to set what now seems like a virtually impossible goal of running my first half marathon. Alarmingly, I was soon to discover that this was also one of the most difficult and challenging half marathon routes! Those that know me well will know that I am certainly not a natural athlete and have also recently been hindered by IT Band Syndrome. 

However, never one to turn down a challenge I am committed to doing this and would like to turn my struggle into something positive for those struggling against the evil and injustices of world poverty. I am running this half marathon for CAFOD - for those in the third world who do not enjoy the basic amenities we often take for granted: food, clean water, shelter, clothing, education and basic health care.

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for helping to inspire me in completing the half marathon. Your kind donation brings meaning and purpose to this life goal.
