We are fundraising for student scholarships to give as many students as possible the opportunity to study at the University of Sheffield. Scholarships are vital to reduce barriers for bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to have a university education. Students who are from lower-income backgrounds often have to turn to loans to cover the cost of living, which can leave these students with debts of £50,000 or more. Fear of these debts can discourage both prospective undergraduates and bright graduates from pursuing further study.

In the School of Education, we see education as a chance to change the lives of individuals, and to make society a fairer place for everyone.  Raising money for scholarships through this walk is a really obvious way to pursue this, and all donations in support, no matter how large or small, are very welcome.

The walk itself takes place on the 28th of June, with one route of 23 miles and another of 37.  At the moment, Louise and Jude are planning to do the 23, while Tim is going for the full 37.  The route covers Ladybower, Derwent Edge, and Bradfield, and should be a great day out for everyone.
