We fund research & raise awareness to support the families affected by Mito

Story

Sutton Conservative Club each year choose a charity to raise money for. As a little club it amazes me how each year they pull together to support important charities.

In 2013/2014 they broke a few records

They baked, they raffled, they auctioned, they had a race night, played cricket, ate gherkins, waxed bodies, quizzed and body shop partied.

All in memory of a little boy who died from mitochondrial disease at 16 months old in 2012. Our beautiful Jacob Bear.

One of the two charities they decided the would receive the money raised was The Lily Foundation.

Mitochondrial Disease is more common than you think. Every 20 minutes a child is born who will develop Mitochondrial Disease by the age of 16.  In the UK more than 10 million people suffer from diseases linked to Mitochondrial Disfunction. Yet there is still no treatment and no cure

The Lily Foundation wants to change that. Set up in memory of Lily who lost her life to the condition at 8 months old, they raise money for research and support the families effected. They also raise awareness through the media, events, talks to schools and other groups.

So as Jacob's Mummy and Daddy we are amazed, humbled and proud of what they achieved in his memory. £4000 was raised in total split equally between the two.

Thank you so much x
