Story
Thank you very much for taking the time to visit the Team-Bowden's JustGiving page and making your donation.
The team comprises Ben Bowden, a teacher in Leicester, Chris Bowden, an occupational therapist in Poole and Tim Bowden a contact lens optician, author, and partner in Bowden & Lowe Opticians in Gilllingham, with Lis Bowden, Optometrist and partner, providing the support vehicle for the trip.
The Challenge
The father-and-sons team plan to cycle from Avonmouth, outside Bristol, to the Isle of Grain, Kent, effectively bisecting the country from estuary to estuary, as part of the "Cycling for Sight 2013" Challenge to raise money for Optometry Giving Sight campaign. Every year Optometrists across the country take part in cycle events to raise money for this worthwhile charity, to bring sight to people across the world who require little more than a pair of glasses, without which they are blind or partial blind.
This isn't something team-bowden have attempted before. The last ride that any of the team have done previously was a 50 mile day ride by Tim and Chris about 20 years ago! The total route that Tim will complete is around 250 miles and he will be joined for various legs of this trip by each of his sons. In total the team will cover around 500 miles. We hope to take loads of photos en-route and update this page and the Bowden and Lowe facebook page so you can see our progress. All the money raised on this site will go straight to Optometry Giving Sight, so you know it is going to a great cause.
