Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Three years ago I changed my life and started running. I do it alone; it's just for me. But hopefully my story (blog-blog) can inspire some of you to chase your dreams, and encourage all of you to make a quick and easy donation to SA-Yes.

I work for a Scottish charity that recently led a successful campaign to raise the compulsary age of leaving care in Scotland from 16 to 21, with additional support available up to the age of 26. Further afield, young people aren't so fortunate and the cycle of disadvantage is a tough one to break regardless of where you are in the world. That's why this year I have decided to fundraise for an international charity in line with my first international marathon!

South African Youth Education for Sustainability provides befriending and educational programmes for children and young people aged between 14-25 who are leaving care homes unaccompanied in South Africa, where the compulsary age of leaving care is 18. Often young careleavers end up on the streets and/or involved in crime and gang culture, but with your donations and support, SA-Yes can continue improving the lives and futures of more and more vulnerable young people through befriending.

Help me raise funds to change the life of a vulnerable young person and build a brighter future for them...

This is my first Marathon, and those long, sore months of training throughout the Scottish winter have been tough...and mostly very dark. Please support my final efforts as I fly solo to the States and take on the 2014 Asics LA Marathon on 9th March. Thank you! :)
