Most of us know someone who has been affected by dementia. It is a cruel disease that can rob people of their future by leaving them living in the past.

At present a diagnosis of dementia means very little hope of effective treatment. There is therefore a desperate need for research which is one of the vital roles Alzheimer's Society plays. 

Another vital role is the support it offers to individuals and their families. As a nurse I have witnessed the devastating impact dementia can have and understand that having someone to listen, offer advice and campaign on your behalf is really important.
