Story
In June 2012, my friend, Robbie Timmins, tragically took his own life. Aged just 31, Robbie, a father, husband, brother, son - our friendly local postman with the massive smile and time for everyone - left behind loved ones devastated, confused and disbelieving at what had happened.
This year, I'll be competing as part of Running For Robbie- a team put together by Robbie's family to ensure he is never forgotten, and to raise awareness of PAPYRUS - an outstanding charity working hard to prevent suicide in young people.
By raising money for PAPYRUS, I'm hopeful that this taboo subject can be talked about more openly, that young people who feel they cannot see a future can find help and hope, and that familes are spared the unspeakable pain of losing a loved one through suicide.
Robbie will never be far from my thoughts as I push myself through several long distance races in the forthcoming weeks.
On 16th February, I will take part in the Belvoir Challenge - a 15 mile off road race.
On 17th March, I will race in the Ashby 20 mile road race, followed by a half - marathon in Friskney on 7th April.
Finally, on 21st April, I will join 70,000 other runners in my biggest ever challenge - The 2013 London Marathon.
