We challenge attitudes on mental health to help anyone affected by mental illness

Thanks for generously taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a team of 'mid-lifers' who generally don't cycle however have chosen to ride 1800 miles to Africa from London on 16th June 2013, in order to raise a significant amount of money for Rethink Mental Illness. The team will be covering their own costs for doing this.

We have chosen to support Rethink Mental Illness as we believe that mental suffering often goes unrecognised and unsupported (see the current 'Time To Change' campaign) - if someone has a broken leg, it is obvious what their pain might be - all too often, those that suffer mentally do so in silence, frequently on their own and unsupported. We want to raise funds to enable a greater level of support to be provided to those suffering from mental illness, in order that they don't feel alone and can be helped to perhaps make some sort of recovery. We want to help to make their dark days a little brighter.

Many of the team will ride the entire distance, which is slightly longer than the Tour De France and takes in some of the highest peaks in the Alps and Pyrenees. Moreover, the team will aim to complete this in 17 days, and arrive in Morocco in one piece, having raised significant financial support for such a worthy cause.
