Story
The Charity I am running for is the DKH Legacy Trust. Dame Kelly Holmes inspired many with her double Olympic victory in Athens 2004 at the age of 34 after so many setbacks in her career. When she retired from top class competition having realised her Olympic dream, she decided to set up her own charity - the DKH Legacy Trust - to 'Inspire young people to find and fulfil their potential in sport or life through the mentorship of elite sports performers'. The charity supports disadvantaged young people to find and believe in their own talents by using positive high achievers from the world of sport as role models and mentors.
My first hand knowledge and experience has shown me that young people desire a chance, an opportunity and a hope to be the best they can be. To achieve that, they need encouragement, support and praise from mentors such as those working for DKH Legacy Trust. Too often young people are dismissed and targeted for what they are bad at with little recognition for what they are good at. To see a young person's life turn around when they realise they have got talent, and they have got potential to achieve their dream is worth everything.
I am an admirer of Dame Kelly Holmes and what she has achieved and if you haven't already I would suggest reading her autobiography Black, White and Gold as it really is truly inspiring.
DKH Legacy Trust is about enabling young people to believe in themselves and to never give up on their hopes and dreams. So I would ask that we dont forget the potential of those living around us and in our societies and we give them an opportunity to excel.
I will be running the following half marathons in 2010 and looking to complete one a month and would like your support. To date I have run 11 miles so am on target for crossing the finishing line!!!

Thank you to all who supported me and gave towards a very worthwhile charity. Due to the unforeseen circumtances of moving house (twice in 3 months) my training took a nosedive and I have been unable to particpate in the last 3 runs.
I look forward to new events soon.
