Story
Deeply affected by reports on global conflict and the on-going refugee crisis, I wrote poems, as I do. Recent calls for submissions from publishers whom recognise and support literary activism proved positive in raising awareness of this issues; keeping the issues present when the news has moved on... then a call to action from the poetry community to volunteer time, travel and poems in a ten hour poetry relay, made me feel I could offer something more than awareness; I could help to raise some funds, as part of a team of 60 poets; helping to provide vital health care for innocent civilians caught up in the never-ending conflicts... Health & Social Care is my background. As we live in a time of austerity and many of my friends are impoverished writers and under funded health care workers and so on, I do not expect huge amounts; any gesture is welcome. And as I am not a tax-dodging millionaire, I feel I really can say `give what you can' from a position of understanding that `money's too tight to mention'. So `give what you can' if you can.
