Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I did it in 32 hours 23 minutes and finished in joint 67th position out of 495 starters. Thank you to running friends, guiding friends and family for all their support.
In 2010 Girlguiding celebrates its centenary. In 2010, the Long Distance Walkers Association are holding their first ever 100 mile event in Scotland. Call it serendipity or call it madness, but I have decided to combine the two and 'run' the Heart Of Scotland to raise money for Girlguiding Fife's centenary celebrations. The event takes place a week before Girlguiding Fife's Kingdom Kapers event. We will have around 200 girls camping and up to 1500 attending a marvellous day of fun and celebration in the East Neuk of Fife. Girlguiding is a unique girls-only space that is open and inclusive to all girls. One of the less obvious forms of discrimination is economic deprivation. I don't want any of our members to miss these opportunities because their families cannot afford to pay for them to go. (It costs £50 for the weekend camp and £10 for the activity day.) Please support me in my centenary effort to allow Girlguiding Fife to celebrate their centenary in style!
As part of my training and build up, I will be entering a few races along the way. I'll keep you posted on my progress. First up, is the Glasgow to Edinburgh double marathon on March 6th..............
Update as of 7th March. I completed the double marathon (55 miles) in around 11:03. The weather conditions were perfect - I couldn't have asked for a better day. I tried hard not too go out to fast but given I had an energy slump at about 22 miles, maybe I did. I finished strong though, pulling up about 12 places in the last 20 miles.
