Hi everyone! It is Sue here! : )
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer last
June. I have had three operations since, then six rounds of chemotherapy.
Next, from 4th April 2016 to 22nd April 2016, I face fifteen sessions of radiotherapy.
( my update on 23rd April 2016 is that I have successfully completed my challenge and run the 52.5 miles over the three weeks.
A huge thank you for all the donations, support and messages from myself, Salisbury Stars Appeal, Breast Cancer Unit and Salisbury District Hospital.
Please keep them all coming in.
I really appreciate all of them)
My aim here is to raise awareness and to raise as much money as I can for The Salisbury Stars Appeal Breast Cancer Unit. It is being built now, but still needs funds to keep it running and well equipped. The breast cancer team and all at Salisbury District Hospital provide an excellent service.
- One in eight are diagnosed with breast cancer
over the age of 50
- Men and women can have breast cancer
- I have heard as young as in the 20s, 30's and 40's
affected
As an amateur runner, I plan to run from Old Sarum to Salisbury Railway Station for my 15 Radiotherapy Sessions, starting on 4th April 2016, Monday to Friday for three weeks, finishing on 22nd April 2016.
The distance is 3.5 miles per run, a total of 52.5
miles for fifteen runs. A trial run took me one hour. So, a total over three weeks of fifteen hours of running.
Any donations for this worthy cause will be much appreciated.
