Story

Winter is coming and the children of refugees in the Greek islands are again suffering. When I saw the first picture of drowned children washed up on the beaches I could not believe them. I started a campaign to ask Theresa May to give them safe sanctuary while permanent arrangements were made. Despite well over 250.000 signatures the government took no notice. Then I raised a small amount of money and went to the Calais jungle and saw first hand the conditions that so many were living in, heard their stories.

My great-grandparents were refugees of the Russian pogroms. These people might be any of us. We are about to celebrate the christmas holidays. Before we do, please give as much as you can to these traumatised people. I am really delighted to be reading with these wonderful poets. Please come along and support my reading.
