Story
I have joined a team, organised by colleagues at work, who are walking all or part of the 105 mile Robin Hood Way in Nottinghamshire over 7 days in June. I am hoping to walk it all. Richard is joining us for the last day!
We are raising money for research being carried out at the University of Nottingham that aims to develop a blood test to detect breast cancer early whilst it is still curable, and also to find ways to stop it spreading. In total the University hopes to raise £1,000,000 through the Life Cycle 6 campaign and we would be very grateful for any donations to help us achieve this.
Personally I have been touched by several family members, friends and colleagues who have been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in recent years, and so I would like to do this walk for them and for the many people diagnosed each year (every year almost 58,000 people in the UK alone are diagnosed with breast cancer). 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Let's help to prevent them from going through radical surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and years of hormone and other treatments.
