Story
In 2006 I was injured in Afghanistan when a rocket propelled grenade severed my arm. I was flown from Afghanistan to Birmingham, Selly Oak Hospital and that same day I received a visit from a gentleman from BLESMA, The British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association. He asked if I would like to become a member of BLESMA for a cost of £1.00!
I can honestly say that the decision to become a member of BLESMA was one of the best decisions I have ever made and Emma completely agrees!
Emma says that if it wasn't for BLESMA I think Andy would of lost himself, BLESMA has helped Andy in lots of ways from activity weekends in Scotland, White Water Rafting in Colorado, Water Ski ing in New York along with Television appearances for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, newspaper articles and books all of which have given Andy focus, motivation and confidence especially in the early days when very little else was in place for injured soldiers.
An unknown charity that was there at the start of my journey to recovery and in fact has been there since 1932. BLESMA has become a huge part of our lives in so many ways that we want to say Thank you and ensure that BLESMA continues to help all injured soldiers and veterans of all conflicts by raising as much money as possible but also raising awareness of this fantastic unsung charity BLESMA!
