Lamp 5k Trip to the Moon Barefoot Walk, 9 May 2022
Lamp (Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project) has launched its major Lamp 5k fundraising campaign for 2022. This years Lamp 5k has a Trip to the Moon theme and will take place from 9-15 May 2022, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am undertaking three unknown 5k walks barefoot with different groups of people during mental health awareness week 9th - 15th May 2022.

The fact that I'll be barefoot and don't know where the journey's taking me, symbolises the vulnerability and uncertainty we face on our mental health journeys; while being with other people on a LAMP event represents how we work together to support each other as individuals, and help received through advocacy.

I will be starting my challenge on Monday 9th May, 9am - Starting at the National Space Centre with the Lamp team.

I would love if you wanted to join and support me on my other routes so please see below where you can find me during the week.

  • Wednesday 11th May, 11am - Leicester Botanic Garden - Just Turn up
  • Saturday Time TBC - Claredon Park to Everard Meadows with 'Cool as Leicester' - Booking Required - Link TBC

“I'm honoured to support LAMP's Trip To The Moon in this way, as I've been passionate about mental health after suffering a crisis in 1997, which led to me being hospitalised for 10 weeks."

Thank you for your support

About the charity

Mental Health is complex. Our advocacy work involves, listening, guiding, planning, supporting and ensuring their needs are properly considered. Mental Health cannot be ‘cured’ with one conversation, it takes time to form trust. Our advocates devote hours, days, months to provide the best support.
