Story
On Friday 20 August 2010, in aid of raising as much money as possible for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust charity, I will attempt to break the world record for "Most Golf Balls Hit In 12 Hours".
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is already doing tremendous work in providing clinical care for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers throughout the UK, and of course is working very hard to find a cure for this life-threatening genetic disease.
My niece, Zoe, who turns 13 this July, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis soon after she was born and has been incredibly brave in coping with this condition including two lots of physiotherapy every day, as well as needing large amounts of daily medication. Zoe continues to be an inspiration to everyone who knows her.
The defective gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis has been identified and the research and development into finding a cure is at the point of the first ever multi-dose clinical trials being planned for next year.
I would be hugely grateful if you could make a donation to this very worthy cause, please feel free to sponsor me based on whatever level of achievement I reach !
For information, the current world record is 7,721, with the main rules being you have to hit the ball at least 100 yards within a 30 degree angle from the teeing area.
The attempt will take place at Gog Magog Golf Club in Cambridgeshire between 7am and 7pm and I would be delighted to receive any offers of support on the day itself. Please let me know if you would like to offer help of any sort.
