Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those who know me will know that in 2005 I lost my beautiful mum to the devastating illness Motor Neurone Disease. She was diagnosed in September 2004 and from that day she didn't stand a chance. She passed away in January 2005 leaving behind her heartbroken husband, 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Nothing can prepare you for the way MND can change such a fun loving, independent and proud woman. It took my mums speech and mobility, followed by her spirit and dignity and then eventually her life.
Until my mum was diagnosed, I knew absolutely nothing about MND. I quickly learned when sharing my news that this was the norm. Nobody knew anything about it! And sadly not much has changed. Although things are getting better. Slowly.....
My mum was such a positive person and some of this rubbed onto me! So out of such a tragic eventuality she has inspired me to do something to help raise much needed awareness and even more importantly funds to help with vital research and everyday help for those who need it. This may be for the individual who has MND or the loved ones around them.
I thought shall I do a wee run or swim? Fall out of a plane or a bungee jump? My husband even suggested a sponsored silence but as I have a little bit of my mum in me I thought.... I'll go one step further. I'll climb a mountain!!!
So please please please sponsor my trek. And share my story. I am making a difference and you can help me.
This ones for you mum!!!!!
