Story

WANTED! Runners, wannabe runners or anyone up for a challenge to get fit, feel good about themselves and raise money for school and the Steve Prescott Foundation.
Since the start of the St Helens 10k run in 2010, as a school St Cuthbert’s have always been represented well with many older students and staff taking part. Last year was no exception when a number of staff braved the wind and rain to finish the 6.2mile course and to don the "North Road survivor" t-shirt in triumph!
This year, as we celebrate our school's 60th anniversary, we are aiming high and are hoping to attract no less than 60 runners to take part in this ever-popular annual event which takes place on Sunday, 4th March 2018. It really would be fantastic if we could be represented by 60 runners. This could include current and past staff, past students (and indeed current students, but you have to be aged 16 on the day of the race), parents of current or past students, partners of all the above or indeed anyone associated at all with St Cuthbert's; the more the merrier! So if you fit the above criteria, why not give it a go!
Thanks to the event organisers and founders,

If you're interested in taking part and getting involved, please get in touch by email postbox@stcuthberts.com or telephone 01744 678123 and we will send you an entry form to complete and return.

All funds raised will be shared equally between our school student wellbeing fund and the Steve Prescott Foundation. Each runner would be expected to raise a minimum of £60 sponsorship.

You will also receive a Team Precky Technical T Shirt to train and run in on the day. This will be sent out at the start of the New Year.

As a school we are passionate about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and by involving ourselves in this event we would be embracing this ethos as a whole community and leading by example.

If you'd like some training inspiration, why not try a Parkrun near you. These are organised free 5k events every Saturday morning at 9:00am nationwide. The St Helens Parkrun is great and very friendly - click here for information. St Helens Council also offer the Couch to 5K programme, which is a beginners running and fitness course. The next course starts on the 8th January 2018 – click her for information.

"I run because I can. When I get tired, I remember those who can't run, what they would give to have this simple gift I take for granted, and I run harder for them. I know they would do the same for me." — Unknown

About the charity

The Steve Prescott Foundation was set up by a totally inspirational man Steve Prescott MBE. In 2006 he was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a terminal cancer & sought out to raise funds for The Christie Hospital and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund. The SPF changes the lives of so many people.
