Story
We are a passionate cycling group and we have decided to unite against Prostate Cancer and raise money in order to help fight this killer. Annually throughout the UK, men’s prostate cancer claims 11,000 lives. Cases are rare in men under 50, but the condition becomes more pronounced and common with age. Help us fight this deadly disease, help us make difference. Prostate Cymru are currently based in Cardiff and surrounding areas (operating mainly across the South East & South West regions) but are organically reaching out and growing into all areas of Wales.
So, what's the challenge?
We are going to spend 24 hours cycling in relay groups around one of the best cycling trails South Wales has to offer. The Afan forest trail named "The Wall / Y Wall" is 23.5 km PER LAP of difficult, demanding terrain comprising of rocks, mud, roots and lots of steep angles thrown in to keep us alert! Each rider will complete a MINIMUM of two laps (47 km) but don't be fooled into thinking "that's not very far"! Y Wall is a very demanding route and rest assured your donation will be keeping the riders focussed and headstrong throughout their efforts! Some of the riders will complete more than two laps and it is our goal that as a group we will cover hundreds of miles, climb thousands of feet and raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cymru.
We will be using Bryn Bettws lodge as our base for the ride where each rider will start and finish. We at South Wales MTB would like to thank them for their kind hospitality to help us with our event!
