Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 17 June , I will be taking part in my first ever triathlon to raise funds for Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC) who offer practical and emotional support to children, teenagers and young adults with cancer and their families.
I have recently had the pleasure to visit NICFC’s respite facilities based in Newcastle ,Co Down, and have seen first hand the difference a stay at Shimna Valley makes to a family living through the trauma of a childhood cancer diagnosis. I have also been inspired by a good friend of mine Joe Barr, who is also fundraising for NICFC by taking part in the Race Across America.
This is a charity close to Joe’s heart and one which made an incredible difference to his life when his baby son Ross was diagnosed with a brain tumour. I needed a reason to take part in this triathlon and after speaking to Joe I found one. Joe, through what he has been through and the things he is doing for this charity is an inspiration to me. Shimna Valley is such a beautiful and peaceful place; I can see how it would make such a significant difference to children with cancer and their families.”
So I am appealing to people to dig deep and sponsor me for my first ever triathlon and help a truly fantastic and life changing cause.
