Story
We will spend the night in cardboard shelters to raise awareness of homelessness and learn from those Porchlight has helped to get off the streets and back in control of their lives. We will hear from one of Porchlight's staff members who will share their own personal story of rough sleeping, to give us insight into the realities of what homeless people face every day.
The next morning we will participate in activities that will help us understand the main routes to homelessness, the randomness of luck and chance in peoples lives, and challenge thinking behind cause and blame.
The most vulnerable in our communities are struggling under the weight of financial strain and the pandemic's devastating impact on mental health. More than 8,300 individuals have been supported by Porchlight and their partners in the last year, and while Porchlight has been able to adapt effectively to new ways of working and make sure that the people who need them most are not left behind, there are more challenges to come.
Anything you can give will mean so much to us and the people Porchlight support.
