The first radio reports coming out of Haiti were very moving. I've never felt so compelled to do something - stupid. Assistance is needed so urgently - there was no time to waste.
So on Friday just gone, at 1pm I ran around Nottingham's Old Market Square in my underpants.
Despite the offer that anyone was welcome to join me on the run, in their underpants, I found myself alone in that regard. The route took me from Beast Market Hill, along Long Row and Smithy Row, down the High Street and then back along Poultry and South Parade. There were laughs, there were gasps, and some ladies ran for their lives.
The suffering happening in Haiti is beyond imagination, it was impossible to ignore the the cries of injured people and children not receiving any medical attention, heard in those first radio reports.
