Story
Fundraiser for Jim & Daz
-The Story-
Early in January 2013 we lost our best friend Jim Firth, it was completely unexpected and the news came as a terrible shock to everyone that knew him.
Those who had the pleasure of meeting him i'm sure will agree, he was one of a kind, he had such a funny, charming, individual character, I feel lucky and truly blessed to have known him.
We didn't know at the time the severity of Jim's illness, later we were told it was Hodgkin Lymphoma, which is a cancer of the lymphatic system.
This is a disease I had somehow never heard of before it took our friend from us.
There's a research foundation that has been set up to develop new treatments for diseases like this called 'Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research'. This charity receives no government funding and relies on donations.
Personally donating to this foundation was the least I could do, but I want to do more, which is why I've decided to go a step further and set up this JustGiving page, but I NEED YOUR HELP!
SFL - History
- 2015 - SFL Team skateboard from Hull to Scarbrough - 75 miles - 2 Days
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrM_1o3fvG8
In August 2015, over the course of 2 days, starting on the South of the River Humber, I intend to Skateboard over The Humber Bridge, through Hull, then up the coastal road all the way to Scarborough. The route will be 50 miles, my plan is to make it to Bridlington on the 1st day, where I will meet up with others to camp, then on the 2nd day complete the journey to Scarborough, the end of my route will be Hairy Bobs Skatepark at Scarborough's North Bay. This will be done in the name of Jim and for 'Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research'.
- 2016 - SFL Team skateboard from Doncaster to London - 200 Miles - 5 Days

For this challenge I want to exceed myself a bit more, so I plan to skate from my house in Doncaster to London, Southbanks, which is 180 miles (triple the distance what I did last time around). I want to do the challenge within 2 to 3 days tops and last week of July.
S-F-L Team will have 3 skaters and 1 bike support to do this challenge
- 2017 - (I had a bad year Family & Friends) I had a year out!
- 2018 - I want to skateboard Tour De Yorkshire. Stage 1 Women Race. From Beverly to Doncaster what is about 85 - 88 Miles. 132.5km
- The Goal -
Is to skateboard and film document the craziest routes and raise money for charity (Bloodwise formerly Leukaemia, Lymphoma Reasearch) In memory of Jim Firth And Daz Cunningham. Both an brother from another mother!
But when we got back from London Aug 2016. My skateboarding friend Daz has been hit by a drunk driver and sadly pass away couple days later :( massive shock for friends and family.
But on Daz's birthday 2017. The Tour de Yorkshire Announced the towns what are hosting the event.. and it got me thinking about doing another SFL Challenge for Daz.. but I think he would just want me to raise money for Jim's charity instead.. but I still want to raise some money for Daz's Kosy spray paint classes.
- My friend Article about Daz -https://httpwww899.wordpress.com/2017/08/10/rememb...
Jim & Daz loved Skateboarding, it was a big part of his life, which is in fact how I met them. If it wasn't for Skateboarding, me and many of his other closest friends may have never met him, it brought us together, which is why I think it is an appropriate fundraising event.
Myself and a few friends will be filming my journey and I will keep you updated with how things go, when I return there will be an edit with the outcome of my trip.
Any donation would be highly appreciated!
