We provide a safe haven, food & friendship to homeless & vulnerable people in the NE

Story

An organisation which has supported homeless and vulnerable people in Newcastle for over three decades has been named by Sintons as its new staff charity.

The People’s Kitchen was established in 1985 when its founder, Alison Kay, heard about the death of a homeless man in the city.

Since then, the charity has grown to support countless people from its base in Newcastle city centre - aptly named the Alison Centre - by offering food, vital supplies, conversation and friendship.

Now, The People’s Kitchen will be Sintons’ staff charity for the next two years (2022-2024), and will be the focus of the firm’s fundraising efforts during that period.

Its support for vulnerable people in Newcastle has never been more needed, with poverty and homelessness continuing to rise.

About the charity

We are a non judgemental charity. We serve 250-300 hot meals a day, 365 days a year. We also provide clothing and bathroom facilities. We are 100% volunteer led & we receive no government funding. We rely on the generosity of the public to be able to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
