Story

In September 2013 my dear dad Les Holder spent his last few days in St Luke's Hospice. I'll never forget his smiles and laughter as he spent the night before he died dancing the conga with Pauline, one of the nurses. The hospice made him feel so happy and relaxed. They made a real fuss of him and he loved every minute of it. After dad had died, everyone was so kind and thoughtful to both me and my mum and it was quite normal for them to write and phone mum to make sure she was ok. The whole hospice experience was simply wonderful for dad and the rest of the family.

I love to dance (the dad dance kind of stuff)  just like Dad did, so when I was asked if I would like to take part I jumped at this opportunity to learn to dance properly.  I know that Dad will be laughing as I strut my stuff on the night and i just hope I do him proud.

I have never had a dance lesson in my life and whilst I am not the shy and retiring type of guy, the thought of dancing a ballroom and a latin number with a professional dance instructor infront of over 300 people is starting to terrify me.

My dance instructor, Leighanne Phillips is amazing. She is not only a brilliant instructor and choreographer she is just soooo patient with me!!  one of her favourinte sayings to me in class is 'no Simon, the other left foot'!!

I am therefore going to give this opportunity everything I've got, to not only raise awareness of the great work that everyone at St Luke's does but also to raise as much money as possible for the hospice in order that they can continue to deliver their great work and help so many people, just kike they did for us.

It would be great if you could sponsor me, just few pounds would be wonderful and dont forget to tick the gift aid box if you are a tax payer!!

Without our help the hospice wouldn't be able to continue to keep its doors open and deliver the wonderful care that they deliver day in day out.
