Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After my disastrous 2011 Brighton Marathon, collapsing at mile 24 in the heat, being walked for 2 miles by club mates and to add insult to injury was snapped being overtaken by a toilet, I vowed not to run this year! As the months have passed and everyone has started to train for the marathon I started to get itchy feet and feel I have unfinished business and a score to settle, and may be even attempt to break the elusive 3 hours.
I have accepted a late place on the University of Sussex team to raise much needed funds for The Bhopal Medical Appeal, a small Brighton based charity doing great work in India.
In 1984 a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India, began leaking 27 tons of the deadly gas. None of the six safety systems designed to contain such a leak were operational, allowing the gas to spread throughout the city of Bhopal. Half a million people were exposed to the gas and 25,000 have died to date as a result of their exposure. More than 120,000 people still suffer from ailments caused by the accident and the subsequent pollution at the plant site.
