Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2012 life as we knew it turned upside down when my wife Steph (mum to Zoe and Bel) suffered a grade 4 subarachnoid haemorrhage whilst working at a company event in London. It was a Thursday, a day ordinarily she would have been at home alone but our luck meant one of her work colleagues recognised the symptoms, called for an ambulance and within a short while she was in the hands of the amazing team at The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery in Queens Square, London.
My miracle girl was in hospital for six worrying weeks after which time was well enough to come home for Easter however by July she was admitted once again requiring an operation to fit a shunt for Hydrocephalus. The operation was a success and since then Steph has attended regular check-ups and I am thrilled to say continues to make astounding progress; she's back behind the wheel and building up the hours she works for her super-supportive employer Accenture - all this in addition to being a loving wife and mum.
Two years on and I have a wonderful opportunity to show our gratitude for the incredible medical care, help and support that Steph, our family and I have received by raising sponsorship for the National Brain Appeal - the official charity of the National Hospital - by running the 2014 Virgin London Marathon. This challenge bears no comparison to what Steph and many other sufferers have gone through but will allow me to say a huge 'Thank You' buy raising some greatly appreciated funds for such a worthwhile cause.
