Story
I'm attempting the earliest ever (in the year), solo swim of the English Channel, it will be a World Record attempt. My window has now been moved from 16th May 2015 to 25th May (because the water temperature, mid-Channel, is still a little too cold to be deemed safe so we're giving it an extra few day to get warmer), the present record is 29th May set by an incredible swimmer, Kevin Murphy. The major challenge is going to be the cold - temperatures in the Channel at that time of the year will hover around 11-12 degrees, the currents are lethal with the busiest shipping lane in the world. It should take me 12-14 hours to complete and hypothermia is my biggest enemy, the crew will consist of my trainer, Fiona Southwell, who’s completed the Channel herself (the oldest woman, at the time, to have swum the English Channel and a wonderful person), a doctor, who will be standing by just incase anything dangerous happens to me - the challengers and dangers are prevalent and very real. I’ve set up my Just Giving page for Amaze, which is a wonderful charity. Knowing that all this hard work is going to such a great Charity will keep me warm in my coldest hour (did Churchill say that :@)) Please give generously...do it...do it!!!! Thanks so much :@)
