Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may already know, my mother, Nancy, suffered for ten years with Alzheimers, until her untimely death in 2000 at the age of 67. My mother was a wonderfully gentle lady, who took good care of my sister and I as children and we had a great, fun-filled family home. Sadly, at just 57 and without an early diagnosis, the onset of Alzheimers could not be restrained by medication and my father then spent the next ten years lovingly caring for his wife at home.
This disease changed our family life forever and in most cases, my mother didn't live to enjoy memorable events such as my wedding and the birth of my son, Logan, (my, how she would have adored him.......). My mother was a kind and considerate person, she was loving, caring and very much a home-maker and it was so distressing to see a parent deteriorate and suffer in such a way that there was no real quality of life.
I am committed not only to the challenge of riding from London to Paris but to raising as much money as I can to give something back to the Alzheimers Society who put so much into research and development and strive to slow down and hopefully one day halt, the progression of the disease. Anyone of us could be affected, so by donating now you will be directly helping to pay for treatments, help and advice or a future cure for perhaps a loved one, a friend or even you.
I would very much appreciate your support in sponsorsing me on this 300 mile challenge to help such a worthwhile charity. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more money, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now................and who knows, I may even have my stabilisers off in time for the challenge!!!
Thank you for your support
