Story
A colleague and his family have had a testing period over the last 6 months with the varying levels of treament for cancer that their son has had to endure at a very young age.
A few of us came together and decided it was time we did something to support him and his family. CLIC Sargent has been the nominated charity due to the length of time the family has spent within the accommodation they provide at no cost, with self-catering faciltiies to make the time a little easier when needing to be at the hospital for constant treatments. To help understand some of what CLIC Sargent can do for a family I've put what a small donation can contribute towards, however small it will all come together to get families through times they would never want to imagine having to deal with.
£60 will help with providing 15 copies of a storybook that explains childhood cancer in simple, easy to understand language - putting cancer into words and illlustrations that the children can relate to.
£230 could pay for a familiy to stay for a week in one fo CLIC Sargent's eight Homes from Home, providing self-catering accommodation near to specialist children's cancer treatment centres.
£1051 could pay for a CLIC Sargent Nurse for a week, maxmising the time children with cancer can spend at home safely.
The Lincoln 10k will 'kick-start' the events, but will be the first of many, so as we get closer to the first target of £1000 we will adjust and keep this going until the end of Dec 14 with many other events... keep your eyes on the pages and I will keep you updated (yep always the adminer!). All I ask is you take the time to find £2 or £20 (or more if you are a rock star!) so we can make the families dealing with children's cancer a little more comfortable in times no parent should have to face.
Thanks for taking the time to read this :-)
