Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Like many people, cancer has unfortunately touched my life with both friends and family members undergoing treatment. One of the common themes I have noticed amongst those who have undergone treatment for cancer is the amazing support they have been given by Macmillan nurses. They provide adivce, support and lifestyle help to try to minimise the impact of cancer on the life of the patient and those around them. In Christchurch and Bournemouth, Macmillan Caring Locally is the charity which is there to support patients going through these very difficult times, particularly in end of life care. I would like to raise money for them to help as many people as I am able to have the support my family and friends have been lucky enough to receive.
Whilst watching my family and friends undergo treatment and the daily struggles they face, it has reminded me how immensly lucky I am to be able to continue to be active and healthy. One place I have always been happy is in the sea, from a young age I spent hours snorkelling and playing in the waves. This love has turned into an open water swimming passion in more recent years. There is no bigger challenge than swimming the Channel and having watched many people conquer it from afar, I decided to gather a group of like minded (crazy) people to join me in raising money for charity whilst attempting to cross the English Channel in the first week of September 2018. I have been told that a boat is quicker, but this is definitely more fun and for a very worthy cause! Please support us in our quest, any small donation is very much appreciated.
