Story

Its finally time to go public! I've been thinking, planning and pondering how I am going to do this for the past 6 weeks. The ball is now rolling!

As you've guessed from the title I'm going to run the 2010 Antarctic Ice Marathon, and I aim to raise £30,000 for The British Red Cross doing so. Which, if you think about it, is 3,000 people donating a minimum of £10, not much really!!!!

The British Red Cross provide so many services and help in so many ways it will be almost impossible to list each individually! But I will list a few area's for which they are most famous; Emergency Response to natural disasters, both at home and abroad (the Gloucester Floods being the most recent in our area), E-R to traffic accidents, devastating fires & medical emergencies. Assisting the NHS (we all know they need it!), providing health & social care, first aid training, transport services, I'm almost out of breath!!!

The marathon takes place each December with around 20 people a year taking part. It is known as the toughest marathon on earth, with temperatures dropping to MINUS 20 coupled with strong katabatic winds, and an altitude of 3,000 ft.

The Ice Marathon will be my first marathon! If you would like your name on my exclusive list of 3,000 then whack your tenner in the pot!

Cheers Y'all!

PS: A better photo will be uploaded in time, I had to take this mug shot myself, which was torture!! I hate camera's aiming at me!
