Story
Hey Everyone! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Sarah Swanson and I have been struggling with ME/CFS for 8 years now. I first started getting sick at age 12 and it has been quite the journey. ME/CFS stands for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This disease is quite debilitating and very misunderstood and therefore, I want to spread awareness and raise money to go towards research in the UK and in other parts of the world.
The reason that not much is being done about the disease is mainly due to the lack of funding by the NIH and other health organizations. If we raise even a little awareness, my hope is that one day scientist and researchers will see the significance of the disease and begin trying to find the root cause and the cure for this illness. Millions are suffering in silence and it is time for their voices to be heard!
My goal is $300.00, but any amount would be wonderful. My family members (and my dog) will be walking along a 5-mile path in Massachusetts in order to represent the struggle patients with ME/CFS have with exercise, movement, pain and energy. I may be attending in a wheelchair to document the walk! We will be wearing blue for International ME/CFS Awareness Month (May).
Anyone who donates to this fund (no matter the amount) will receive a blue ribbon pin made by me to show that you are showing support for someone with ME/CFS. (so make sure the donation is not anonymous!)
Thank you for your time! Please donate any amount you can. If you want to learn more about the walk, the organization Invest in ME and ME/CFS, please visit: http://walkforme.co.uk/how.html
