Story

My running challenge!

In 2017 I plan to run 1,000 miles so I've decided to raise £1 for every mile I run!

I will be running Brighton Marathon in April and this will be my second Marathon to date. I ran Brighton Marathon this year and managed to do it in just over 6 hours.

I plan to train better this time around and get my time down to 4 hours. I have managed to run just over 500 miles so far this year and plan to do more training runs early in the year and to reach 1,000 miles by the end of the year!

I will also be taking part in parkrun on Saturdays and as many half marathons and other races as I can schedule in.

I am currently signed up for Brighton half in February and keen to sign up for Cardiff half in October.

I have chosen to fundraise for Chestnut Tree House because I want to help the children and families they care for.

How your sponsor money will help

£50 will give a child the opportunity to spend an hour benefiting from a swim in our hydrotherapy pool

£157 allows a member of our Community Team to provide a few hours specialist nursing care and symptom management for a life-limited child in the child's home, allowing the parents or carers to spend quality time together

£230 gives a child the chance to visit Chestnut Tree House for the day and enjoy our facilities and a range of activities whilst giving mum and dad a break from the daily care

£285 will provide for one hour of all care services at Chestnut Tree House

£651 will allow a child to spend a night at Chestnut Tree House, where they will receive specialist care and symptom management from our nursing team and be able to enjoy the facilities which the hospice offers

£887 will allow a nurse to support a family immediately following bereavement, helping them to plan the funeral and to say their final goodbyes to their child

£1,500 allows our Community Team to host a Family Day for 20 families, providing a range of activities and information for the whole family to enjoy

£1,953 will give a child a 3 night break at Chestnut Tree House where they will receive specialist care and symptom management from our nursing team and, where required, end of life care. Of course they will also be able to enjoy the hydrotherapy pool, relax in the multi-sensory room and join in with a host of activities, whilst mum and dad get the chance to “recharge their batteries.”
