Story
This year has been hard after the devastating loss of our daughter Lexi. We are due to be married the week after this half marathon, and we wanted to do an event that remembers and celebrates Lexi before we got married.
We have chosen this charity as it was this bacteria which killed Lexi.
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. On average in the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection -one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
We want to increase the awareness of this bacterial disease which took our daughter from us and does the same to lots of other families. Most of which is preventable. Please help us raise money to help other people avoid this tragedy.
We have been really touched about how generous people have been when money is so tight for everyone. We have adjusted our target amount, but thank you to everyone whom has donated so far. We have been overwhelmed by your support thank you
