Story
I am doing this for Jules.
I am not a runner. The understatement of the year! Over the years Jules made several attempts to get me running. He would encourage me to go out with him, (to the massive detriment of his own run). He would patiently show me how to warm up properly, how to use my arms, heels down, lift up my knees and generally try and teach this rather unwilling beginner how to master a basic physical skill! Despite my ineptitude and lack of drive he kept on trying and remained good humoured as always. I inevitably let him down at every attempt. At my peak I once made it to Putney Bridge (less than a mile!)
He really wanted me to get to the point of enjoying running. To be out excercising in the fresh air. To get properly fit and enjoy that sense of achievement finishing a run gives you.
So finally I will run for him! 10k will push me as far as I think is possible for the girl who was always last. I have to believe that he is watching, probably laughing his head off and hopefully smiling with pride.
