Story
On September 26, I'm abseiling down the Battersea Power Station - roughly 100 feet - in support of the Mines Advisory Group, AKA MAG. I'd love it if you could help sponsor me - if it's just your spare change, or if you're feeling generous and want to give quite a bit more, I'd really appreciate it. There will be photos, and there will be stories. Hopefully not a fall however!
MAG is a charity group that deals with the removal of the 'remains of conflict'. Anti-personnel and anti-vehicle landmines, rockets, missiles, mortars, grenades, ammunition, and plenty of other deadly items left lying around for some poor soul to blunder into. They also play a part in educating folk who live, work, and travel within contaminated areas, training and employing local staff for a sustainable, national workforce.
Spread across 35 countries, since 1989, from Afghanistan and Cambodia, to Pakistan and Vietnam - it's a big job and they understandably need help. They explain it far better than I right here.
Now for the legal mumbo jumbo:
"Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now."
Wish me luck!
