Story
Hey everyone!
I am going to be running the LA Marathon this coming February, and in doing so I hope to raise a bunch of cash and a whole bunch more awareness for SAMH (The Scottish Association for Mental Health). This will be my first marathon, and so will likely be a struggle, but knowing that I’ll be raising money for such a brilliant cause will no doubt give me that extra push to the finish line.
The work SAMH puts into tackling such a big issue in Scotland is incredible, and £500 is a lot to raise, but seeing where the money can go and the difference it can make to a charity like this will hopefully get you thinking and dig deep:
£5-10 can help them simply reach and provide information
to people suffering from mental illnesses that have no support around them.
£20-50 can help to set up mental health and well being events, and getting together as a group, which can really help a person’s recovery.
£100-250 allows them to provide intensive therapeutic support to those in need, and also helps provide training in suicide prevention, giving people the skills to help someone in crisis.
£500-1000 This amount of money is what really helps SAMH spread their message. It will not only help them to develop and print an essential guide on looking after your mental health (as reliable and supportive information is so necessary to a person’s recovery), it can go towards setting up support groups around the country for families concerned about loved ones at risk of suicide.
So with all that in mind, I’m aiming for a total of somewhere in that £500-1000 region. Something that can really make a difference!
