So in 2017 I trained hard to complete my challenge and I wrote this to explain it to you ...

A challenge has been set for people of a certain age who ride or rode to take part in a BE 80 ( British Eventing) competition. People like me (60's babe),  perhaps not as fit and probably not very brave but who can't seem to leave horses alone. We're going to train hard, get fit and overcome our fears and collectively a nation of like minded wobbleberries will take part in a one day event. Some of us, me included,  have ziltch competition experience  and the thought of leaping over cross country fences and riding a dressage test is terrifying !  I don't bounce like I used to and I need a step to just get on!  But we are doing this to realise Hannah's vision...allow more people to experience the sport , have contact with horses and raise money to research into bone  cancer. Cancer needs it's butt kicked out of here and I'm going to do my bit  to send it on it's way. So please help me.

We trained hard from January 2017 to our competition date in October.  Despite being ready, we battled unexpected hitches and Floss was distracted by the weather, tanoy and course walkers. We had to retire in our 3rd element and do the walk of shame !

The  organisers approved of our efforts and acknowledged our completion, ( started all 3 disciplines and raised our money). They said it was about participation not completion but we didnt get to celebrate that feeling when you cross the finish line . That happens some days. It's how the sport goes. I didn't feel we had finished so we set out in 2018 to do it all again. Floss said eventing wasn't her thing so i looked for another horse.  That's a long story and so was the winter. We trained in rain , snow and sleet. We broke the ice on the water jumps. We trained with British Eventing and even picked up a couple of rosettes. Then Woody came back into my life and the friendship and adventure began again. We even spent the day with our patron Andrew Hoy!

On 26th August 2018 in the usual best of British weather,  we completed with double clears in our jumping and our best dressage score yet. (It was respectable!) Dreams do come true if you dont give up!

.We rode for Hannah..The research has started thanks to 2017s funds raised by Hannah's willbury wonder pony charity. It's  actually happening.. The Wobbleberry Challenge contributed a quarter of a million pounds thanks to you. But hey we need to keep it going so please can you sponsor Woody (aka A Shot in the Dark ll), and I for our greatest efforts to cross that finish line. I stress it hammered it down all day !

Please Google  Willbury or the wobbleberry challenge for more information. Thank you!
