We provide welfare and practical support to seafarers and their families in need.

Story

We are once again donning our climbing boots and taking the challenge to do climb three of the highest peaks in Great Britain in the quickest time.

This year, William and Lydia, joined by Daniel from our operations team in Varna, will be representing the Cargill London office. Daniel is kindly replacing Sally, who has had to pull out due to an injury. The event will be held from 21-22 June 2014 and we therefore kindly ask you to consider making a donation to show your support and to spur on our spirits!

The challenge is to climb three of the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours; Ben Nevis (1344m/4406ft), Helvellyn (950m/3117ft) and Snowdon (1085m/3560ft), a total ascent of over 10,000ft and 27 miles. 40 teams from the shipping industry will compete in order to raise over £250,000 to fund the on-going efforts of the Sailor’s Society.

The Sailors’ Society is an international charity which, through a network of centers across the world, offers practical help and emotional support to the world’s merchant seafarers.  The Sailors Society is close to the hearts of all of us at Cargill Ocean Transportation and we have worked with them for 14 years, sponsoring five Three Peaks events, four Geneva Shipping Balls, two Dragon Boat Challenges and two Asian Challenges, helping to raise over $5 million in the process.

How your funds will help

All funds raised from the Challenge will help us to sustain our vital services and continue to provide

practical, emotional and spiritual support for seafarers worldwide.

Last year our supporters helped us to…..

Help 376,200 seafarers worldwide

Transport 21,600 seafarers

Visit 233 seafarers in hospital

Visit 305 retired or injured seafarers at home

make 569 welfare grants

distribute 8,187 international news sheets

The event will be held from 21-22 June 2014, with various teams from shipping and related industries battling it out to climb these 3 mountains.

Please help us wherever you can, and spur on our spirits!
