Story

Nigeria is one of the countries in the world with a shortage of access to clean water for the average person, far worse is the situation for the poor and needy people. For this reason SRF have decided to establish our next Water Wells project in Nigeria.

The project will be in IMO State, East of Nigeria where a number of wells are required for 6 big communities. The needy people in these areas including women and children have to travel kilometres just to get clean drinking water. In the scorching heat it is difficult to walk long distances therefore the people settle for dirty water and this has resulted in very poor malnutrition and a high level of infant deaths. Our volunteer who recently visited these areas couldn’t get access to clean water to drink themselves and had to spend the whole day without water until they left the area.

To shed more light on the situation of these people, the local Masjid does not have enough water therefore Muslims have to come to the Masjid with wudhu or bring a little can of water with them.

Our target is to raise £5,000 to build 2 Water Wells (£2,500 x 2) across the above areas and save lives by providing clean water to thousands of people, inshaAllah.
