Running For Rob

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2019 · 24 March 2019 ·
On the 11th April 2015 with his family by his side, our darling Rob died. He had been feeling unwell for only 2 days before. He died from sepsis. We had never heard of sepsis. Rob has left behind a wife, 2 young daughters, parents, siblings and a whole army of devoted family and friends. There is not one day that goes by that we don’t think about him and miss him.
Every 3.5 seconds, someone in the world dies from sepsis. In the UK alone 44,000 people lose their lives to sepsis every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally sepsis claims 6 million lives a year. Yet with early diagnosis it is easily treatable. If we had known about sepsis and the warning signs then maybe Rob would still be with us, we will never know...
Rob was never one for physical exertion. I’m sure he would think that running a half marathon around London is bonkers and we should be doing a sponsored walk via London pubs! I’m sure we will be thinking the same come mile 12! But bonkers or not, we are running it to raise awareness for this brilliant charity - and to celebrate Rob’s amazing life.
Along with Rob there are so many other people that have lost their lives to sepsis and families like ours that have been affected by it. We are doing this for you too.
